FAQ: Answers

  1. What's happened to the "Since 1 Day" category?

Unfortunately, we were not able to incorporate this popular category into the new version of Global Plane Search (we are still working on it). However, the Search Box can provide the same results (e.g. see USA since 1 day). Also, under the new system, you can click on the "Days Listed" column header on any results page to get the most recent ads at the top.

  2. I'm having trouble contacting the seller of an airplane, can you help?

As a search engine for online aircraft ads, we don't hold the contact details of the seller, as they don't register with us. This information should be with the host site, therefore, you will need to contact the hosting site for any other contact information.

  3. Why are old airplane ads still listed?

As an aircraft ad search engine, we search the internet for aircraft ads on a daily basis. Fortunately, most of the websites remove their "stale" listings after a period of time in the cases where the advertiser forgets to remove their sold aircraft. In order to assist you, we do keep track of when aircraft are listed or updated, and display the "Days Listed" against each ad, indicating the number of days since the ad was created or modified. Also, when using our search facility, you can use the keywords "SINCE n DAYS", which will limit the results to ads that are "n" number of days old or less. We hope that this can help you to discern between active and "stale" ads.

  4. I've sold my aircraft but you still have it listed and I keep receiving calls?

This means that you still have your aircraft ad hosted on one of our Featured Sites, and as such, is automatically listed on GPS for a period up to 1 year. If you make sure that you remove all your ads from our Featured Sites, they will automatically be removed from GPS.

  5. Why are duplicate aircraft ads sometimes listed?

Aircraft ads are often listed on multiple sites, and therefore they are listed multiple times on GPS, once for each site. Although we understand that it is frustrating to see duplicate ads, it's not always possible to identify them (by s/n or registration, etc.). Even when we know that it's the same aircraft, we have a moral dilemma of which sites' ads we would leave out: we have a policy not to favour one site over another.

In any case, other search engines (such as Google) typically display duplicate results when necessary, and we are in the same situation.

We do however, try to make every effort to remove duplicate ads within the same site, although this is not always possible. In many cases, a single broker may be selling two separate aircraft that "look the same" to us (i.e. same model & year), but with individual characteristics that may be interesting to buyers.

Lastly, removing "duplicates" may be a disservice to you! Many dealers/brokers price their aircraft differently depending on the site they are listing on ;)

  6. How do I list my aircraft on your site?

If you would like to sell a single aircraft, or if you would like to sell multiple aircraft via our broker package, please visit our Sell Aircraft page to get started. We also have paid inclusion programs that allow us to list your inventory directly from your website, please Contact Us for more details.

  7. Why do I sometimes see aircraft make, model or price etc. listed incorrectly?

Unlike other search engines, we don't just regurgitate the data as it's found, which can be unreadable and off the subject matter. Being an advanced search engine, when we crawl the Internet for aircraft ads, the data is gathered into our system and goes through a number of analysis processes to turn it into a readable format. The benefit of this is that we can find supplementary information not even recognized by the hosting site, such as prices embedded in the comments, and attributes of the aircraft such as "amphibian" or "aerial survey".

For instance, our processes successfully convert a handwritten ad such as:

l-19 on floats and skis completely refurbished 1978, built 1962 TT:16,968 70K OBO miami.

    to:

1962 Cessna 305/L-19 "Bird Dog" Amphibian, Skis US$70,000 Florida, USA

However, as this process is dependent on the quality of the initial data and our human designed & controlled processes, errors can creep in... Our results are accurate for 99.5% of ads, but if you notice an error, please do not hesitate to let us know - we will fix it, and by extension improve our service. We regret any inconveniences experienced due to inaccuracies within our system.

  8. Can you help us to locate an aircraft?

Yes, although we mainly deal in airliners and commuter aircraft. Please review our Aviation Library pages for more details.

  9. Why aren't there any wanted ads, aircraft engines or parts listings?

We currently don't list these, although some do creep into our system. A Wanted section and aircraft engines is something that we intend to look at in future releases.

  10. Why are the listings of some well-known aircraft sales sites not displayed in your results?

Not all sites seem to fully understand what we are about and have requested that their listings be excluded from GPS, which is unfortunate for those who advertise with them, considering the amount of traffic we could be sending them. We hope that they will reconsider their positions in the future, and for the time-being we will respect their wishes.

  11. How do I advertise our company's services on your site?

  12. What if I am a victim of fraud or suspect an ad as fraudulent?
