The ASK16 was used in research operations at DLR Oberpfaffenhofen until October 1996, when it was transferred to the flying club. It therefore has some non-standard inspection covers in the fuselage and wings, installed during manufacture by Alexander Schleicher. Documented in the technical drawing set of the ASK16.
The ASK16 was equipped with removable auxiliary tanks TM-No. 4. The pumps were removed during the overhaul, the mounting fittings as well as the empty tubes are still present.
The ASK16 was professionally maintained in DLR's flight operations and later in the flying club. The complete operating records, maintenance records as well as all logbooks are available.
The last major overhaul was performed in 03/2008 at LTB Eichelsd rfer. There also the 60 liter tank was refitted.
