We are proud to present to the market this historic 1943 Douglas DC-3 which entered service during World War 2 and given USAAF serial number 42-92247. It was sent to Canada to serve with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a training aircraft and it was issued RCAF serial number FL615.

This DC-3 has had a very illustrious career serving with multiple countries as a passenger airline. A detailed history of its service is listed below.

It is currently based at Wonderboom airport, Pretoria, South Africa where it is undergoing deep maintenance.

Engines: 2 x Pratt & Whitney R1830-92 serial numbers:

with Total Time Since Overhaul of 456.5 each.

Propellers: 2 x Hamilton Standard 23E50 Plus one spare set of blades.

The aircraft requires a deep annual inspection and all Airworthiness directives and Service Bulletins to be complied with before it can be issued with a fresh Certificate of Airworthiness. This Douglas DC-3 is registered with the SACAA under Standard Category.

The cost of acquiring the Certificate of Airworthiness is estimated at $150,000 USD and will take approximately six (6) months to complete all works to an airworthiness standard of acceptance.

5 January 1944 it went to the Royal Canadian Air Force as FL615.

February 1944 was transferred to the RAF and served with an Operational Transition Unit in Canada, 32 OTU

19 February 1946 struck off charge and entered the War Assets Corporation (Canada) Ltd.

1 March 1946 started with Trans Canada Air Lines as CF-TDO

11 May 1959 started with Matane Air Services Ltd

21 August 1963 registered ZS-DRJ for Commercial Air Services, Comair

1976 Leased to Lesotho Air Lines

1979 Leased to Magnum Air Lines

National Airways Corporation.

1996 operated by Oriole Express and named Lady Victoria

Owned at one stage by Sherell Cunningham.

Carried the name Reiger when in service with Comair, to commemorate 50th anniversary of the first DC-3 in South Africa which was PH-ALR of KLM in December 1938.
