Description

A 1963 Beechcraft Musketeer 23 that has been flown, maintained and documented without a gap for sixty-three years. Airworthy and in regular use: about 100 h in 2025 and 77 h in the first nine months of 2026. The 100 h / annual inspection was carried out on 30 September 2026 and the ARC runs to 4 February 2027.

It is also honest about what it is. The engine is close to TBO, roughly 88 h remaining, and the asking price reflects that. The value here is the airframe, the paperwork and the current airworthiness status - not a fresh engine.

The strong point is the documentation: complete and continuous logbooks since new, airframe, engine and propeller, with the full airworthiness file. On a 1963 aeroplane that is the exception rather than the rule.

The buyer this suits is someone with an engine or an overhaul in mind, or a group willing to do one, who wants a complete and documented airframe to put it on.

Airplane time state:
TTAF: 4,111 h (4,641 landings)

Engine: Lycoming O-320-D2B, 160 hp, serial L-11140-39A
TTE (total time engine): 3,673 h
SMOH: 1,911 h
TBO: 2,000 h - approximately 88 h remaining
Last overhaul: October 1994, factory-overhauled unit, FAA Export Certificate of
Airworthiness E309709 ("Newly Overhauled"), installed at 1,762 h TSN

Not the airframe's original engine: the original ran to TBO and was replaced in 1994. All four cylinders were overhauled in December 2004 and test-flown to Lycoming SI 1427A. The engine runs on the Lycoming SI 1009 extension programme; the most recent extension inspection was in April 2026.

Five consecutive oil analyses, all clean. The most recent (September 2026) returned the lowest iron rate of the series. Reports available.

Propeller: Sensenich 74DM6-0-60, fixed pitch, new in 1992, 2,087 h since new.

Last annual / 100 h inspection: 30 September 2026, by a Swiss CAO under Part-ML.
ARC: EWE20250115c, first extension issued 06.01.2026, valid to 4 February 2027. The second extension block is unused, so a further year to February 2028 is available under ML.A.901(c).
Weighed 23 February 2022.

Avionics

Bendix/King KX 155 - COM1 / NAV1 (25 kHz)
Trig - COM2, 8.33 kHz capable (installed 2017)
Garmin GTX 328 - Mode S transponder
Garmin GMA 340 - audio panel
Garmin aera 660 - VFR GPS / moving map, in AirGizmos panel dock
Kannad 406 AF-Compact ELT with RC200 remote

Please note: only COM2 transmits on 8.33 kHz. COM1 (KX 155) is 25 kHz and is placarded receive-only in 8.33 kHz airspace. Fine for VFR as flown.

Interior

Tan, complete and original in appearance, showing its age but without tears. Carpet clean, headliner free of stains and sag, the Musketeer skylight clear. Rosen sun visors fitted. Step tread worn but complete. Baggage compartment clean and dry. Four seats, pilot plus
three.

The airframe interior was photographed throughout in October 2026 - the original 1963 Alclad mill stampings are still legible in the tailcone and the primer is intact. Nothing has been opened up beyond that; the interior photographs are in the gallery, so you can judge for yourself.

Exterior

White with blue and red stripes. Paint still glossy, no cracking, chalking or blistering, and does not need redoing. Upper fuselage and wing upper surfaces were refinished in 2002 after hail damage (see Remarks).

The aircraft has been parked outside rather than hangared in recent years - said here rather than left to be discovered at a pre-buy.

Additional Features

Rosen Sunvisor System - FAA STC SA02063SE
Cleveland wheel and brake conversion, kit 199-124 - FAA STC SA710GL
Trig COM2 (8.33 kHz) installed September 2017
Brackett induction air filter

DAMAGE HISTORY (per aircraft records). The logbooks record five occurrences between 1968 and 2020. Each was repaired, inspected and released to service by a licensed maintenance organisation, and the paperwork for each is in the books:

1968 - right wing leading-edge strike against a flagpole during a low pass. The aircraft completed a circuit and landed normally; nobody was injured. Swiss EFUK final report available on request.

2002 - hail damage. Upper flap and aileron skins, windshield and both forward side windows replaced; aircraft repainted and re-weighed.

2012 - hard landing. Landing gear and wing structure inspected to the Beech 23 Maintenance Manual Hard Landing Check.

2013 - storm damage while parked at Zell am See. Rudder and vertical fin repaired and refitted.

2020 - hard landing. Right wing skin replaced and the full post-hard-landing structural inspection completed.

To our knowledge there has been no further damage. All of the above predates the current ownership and is stated per the aircraft records.

RECORDS. Complete and continuous logbooks since new (1963) - airframe, engine and propeller - with the full airworthiness file, weighing reports from 1963 and 2022, the equipment list and the STCs. All records available for inspection and can be sent ahead of a viewing.

PLEASE NOTE. The aircraft is Swiss-registered and EU VAT has not been paid. A buyer importing it into the EU should budget for import VAT and any duty.

Noise certificate Class C - not certified for basic training or glider towing.

With full fuel (52 USG usable) the useful payload is about 220 kg, so realistically a two- to three-person aeroplane rather than a four-seater.

The fuel quantity indication has a known quirk. It is not a no-go item and can be demonstrated, but it is described in writing before signing rather than left to a pre-buy.

From 1 January 2027 the aircraft is based at Birrfeld (LSZF). The parking space there is not transferable to a buyer.

Viewing and pre-buy inspection welcome.
