Here is a unique opportunity to purchase arguable the finest Bulldog in existence. Purchased in 2011, it has been completely rebuilt using new parts. A winner of several concours, it attracts admiring glances from the Bulldog and aviation community. This is no ordinary Bulldog, this is Blunties Bulldog J
This special Bulldog has enjoyed a no-expense spared restoration. Work has been totally documented and all is included in the sale. The restoration has been the subject of several international aviation magazines includes War Birds Digest and Pilot magazine, copies of which are included.
Airframe hours: 8015. Lifed at 15,000 so plenty left.
Engine hours from factory new: 185
Propeller and Governor hours since complete overhaul: 185
Fatigue index (FI) 111.82555 as of Nov 2021 (sufficient for 30 years with gentle aerobatics)
Since the restoration the Bulldog has been religiously maintained by specialist aviation engineers; all STIs and SPs & NDT have been religiously updated and the entire fuselage interior regularly subjected to corrosion inhibitor. It has always been hangared.
This Bulldog is fitted with the Christen inverted flight oil system.
The aeroplane comes with a healthy collection of new spares, too numerous to list. Some difficult to obtain such as heated pitot head.
The sympathetic rebuild includes the following:
1. New factory engine, including all ancillaries etc. TBO increased to 2400 hours. New engines include the all important roller tappets. All engine bearers replaced with new. Oil & filter changed on average every 15 - 20 hours at 6-monthly check
2. Complete bare metal re-spray by Mick Allen. The Bulldog was completely disassembled prior to etch priming, priming and re-painting in original correct colour scheme and decals. All nuts, bolts and screws were replaced with stainless steel at that time.
3. Full new leather interior including new original spec flooring.
4. Renovated standard RAF blind flying panel with all new instrument panel shock absorbers
5. Extensive modern avionic upgrade to include new: Garmin GNS430W with CAA minor Mod approval (WASS, 8.33 radio, VOR and Sat Nav ), Garmin GI-106A CDI, Mid-Continent Clock, FS FuelScan 450, Trig TY96 8.33 radio, Trig TMA44 audio panel, Narco DME and RMI, Garmin GTX328 Mode S Transponder, USB/Cigar socket 12v supply. All owner service and maintenance manuals are available & included in the sale.
6. New seat belts.
7. New modern strobes (much lighter power supply).
8. SkyTec starter motor.
9. Slick magnetos.
10. Complete new exhaust.
11. New rudder trim cable.
12. New stick tops & control column gators.
13. New flap motor.
14. Complete Cleveland brake mod, from new master cylinders to tires.
15. New windscreen.
16. Some new engine instruments, including rev-counter and fuel gauge.
17. All hoses replaced: Oil, fuel, air, hydraulics.
18. All fuel sensor transmitters replaced.
19. New wing seals.
20. New engine cowlings. Note that a new starboard wing and tailplane was fitted before my purchase.
21. New high-power 32AH batteries. (2021).

23. Fully fitted SES cushions (for small Co-pilot!).
