Description

S.903A unique time capsule aircraft looking for a sympathetic new owner.

Purchased in 1974 and flown extensively until 1994 when its owner was forced to mothball it in a dry, secure garage due to loss of licence and subsequent income (he was a commercial pilot who famously managed to land a Boeing 707 with two engines missing from the starboard wing!).

Manufactured in 1951 by the Soci t Industrielle Pour l A ronautique (SIPA) as an S.903 model, serial No. 96, with the uprated 100hp Rolls Royce C90-14F engine. Originally registered in France and then as G-BCML on arrival in the UK which was later changed to G-BGME. Registered with the LAA and able to be maintained under their auspices making this a potentially cheap way to go flying in a classic, side-by-side, dual control taildragger.

In totally original condition now obviously requiring work for a permit to fly. The fabric is still taut and appears in good condition (it was recovered shortly before being mothballed), the engine was filled with oil and appears to be in good condition. There is an absolute plethora of paperwork as the owner appears to have kept everything (even receipts for fuel and landing fees!).

The wings, horizontal stabiliser and propeller have been detached for ease of transport and storage (it can be easily moved on a car trailer).

I haven't placed a price on this listing as I believe a proper inspection would be necessary to evaluate its value to a potential new owner and I need to assure the family of the deceased owner that there is a firm intention to return the Sipa to the air. I am thus charged with negotiating the eventual price to whatever level is appropriate to find the right person.
