Description

Glasair III Fast, Clean, and Ready to Fly

Beautiful Glasair III, privately owned and always hangared. Professionally built and carefully maintained with complete logs and excellent condition inside and out.
Tail Modification Explanation (from Performance One Aviation)
First, the tail. Compare the tail on mine to the other pictured.
My tail extends below the airframe, and there is also a strake under the fuselage, similar to what some Beechcraft Bonanzas ( Bo s ) and the Duke have.
This modification serves three main purposes:
1. Improved taxi control The large rudder provides enough authority to steer the airplane at speeds below 10 knots without using the brakes. This makes taxiing easier and reduces brake wear.
2. Better take-off handling It increases rudder effectiveness at low speeds and high-power settings, reducing the need for differential braking to maintain directional control.
3. Yaw damping The added ventral fin helps to stabilize yaw in turbulent air.
This mod was originally developed by Performance One Aviation (formerly Phoenix Composites) and is, in my opinion, a must-have improvement.

Airplane time state:
Airframe Glasair 3: 65 h TTSN
- Engine: Lycoming IO-540-K1H5 865 h TTSN
- Propeller: Hartzell 65 h TTSN
