Description
Fast, efficient and remarkably versatile, G-BZRO is a beautifully flying example of one of Piper s great touring twins equally at home operating from shorter airfields or heading away on a long-distance international trip.
The aircraft combines the excellent handling and efficiency for which the Twin Comanche is known with Rajay turbo-normalised Lycoming IO-320-C1A engines, long-range fuel, oxygen and a comprehensive IFR avionics fit.
Typical cruise is approximately 150 160 kt, with around 1,100 nm range and total fuel capacity of 120 USG. Combined cruise fuel consumption is approximately 16.5 USG/hr.
Airframe
Year: 1969
Model: Piper PA-30C Turbo Twin Comanche

G-BZRO is the later C-model, with additional rear cabin windows and provision for two additional seats in the extended rear cabin/baggage area.
The aircraft has four conventional cabin seats, with two additional removable rear seats included, allowing a six-seat configuration where weight and balance permit.
Notable modifications and equipment include:
External LED lights
Wingtip tanks
120 USG total fuel capacity
Knots2U wing-root fairings
Knots2U flap-gap seals
LoPresti flap-track fairings
Smaller nosewheel modification

Emergency electrical backup
Engines
Engine Type: 2 Lycoming IO-320-C1A
Power: 160 hp each
Fuel System: Fuel injected
Turbo Installation: Rajay turbo-normalised
Left Engine: Approx. 170 hours SMOH
Zero-time overhaul by Nicholson McLaren Aviation in July 2020. The left turbocharger was also overhauled during the engine work.
Right Engine: Approx. 2,168 hours total time / 170 hours STOH
Full top-end overhaul by Nicholson McLaren Aviation in July 2020. The right turbocharger was inspected during the engine work.
Turbo hoses were replaced in 2025 with modern Aeroquip PTFE/fire-sleeved assemblies.
The Rajay system maintains manifold pressure as altitude increases, providing an excellent combination of altitude capability, cruise performance and economy.
Propellers
Propellers: 2 Hartzell HC-E2YL-2BSF/F7663-6Q Q-tip
Overhauled: October 2022
Time Since Overhaul: Approx. 118 hours
The distinctive Q-tip propellers provide increased ground clearance and complement the Twin Comanche s already efficient airframe.

G-BZRO flies beautifully, with light and well-balanced controls. It is a genuinely enjoyable aircraft to operate and offers an unusual combination of shorter-field practicality, long-range capability and economical twin-engine performance.
It is equally suited to visiting smaller strips and regional airfields or setting off on a substantial international touring trip.
Maintenance
G-BZRO has been maintained by Dukeries Aviation, recognised specialists in the Piper Comanche series, throughout the current ownership.
Since acquisition in May 2024, Dukeries have carried out all maintenance on the aircraft and are thoroughly familiar with G-BZRO. The aircraft has remained actively flown and has benefited from ongoing preventative maintenance together with a number of useful upgrades and improvements.
During the current ownership, the aircraft has been upgraded with full external LED lighting, all four turbocharger oil hoses have been renewed with modern Aeroquip PTFE/fire-sleeved hose assemblies, and a Garmin GMA 342 audio panel has been installed. Age-related components have also been replaced as required as part of the aircraft s ongoing maintenance.
Dukeries would be happy to continue supporting G-BZRO for its next owner.
