The Pipistrel Virus SW 121A Explorer is the most advanced EASA CS-LSA type-certified aircraft in its class and one of the most capable two-seat touring aircraft available anywhere. Sept Dec 2024 Prop strike event: propeller sent to MT-Propeller GmbH (Germany, EASA DE.145.0115) for major overhaul and repair. Rotax gearbox removed, fully inspected and repaired by FRANZ Aircraft Engines GmbH (Germany, EASA DE.145.0318). All wear limits checked; crankshaft measured within limits (CS24 = 0.02mm, CS04 = 28.00mm). Gearbox released for 1,535 further hours. All work performed to BRP-Rotax MML 05-50-00 and MMH. Certificate of Release to Service issued Dec 5, 2024.
Nov 2023 All 60-month life-limited components replaced (hoses, seals, coolant, tires, brake parts, fuel pump, GRS repack, alternator belt, throttle cables, flexible lines, etc.). Next due 2028.
Apr 2026 Annual inspection completed. ARC renewed, valid to Apr 28, 2027.
Gearbox 1,000hr inspection: due at TTAF ~1,465 hrs (556 hours remaining).
