Description
This 1988 Seneca III will be an amazing aircraft for someone who wants a solid platform to upgrade a late-model de-iced twin. This Seneca III needs an overhaul for the left engine and is priced accordingly. There will be a buyer with a time-limited TSIO-360-KB looking for just such an opportunity, as these aircraft are very valuable when in service.
In Europe, the Seneca with the 4,407-lbs Mod kit, like G-BOCU, incurs no airway charges. They offer seating for 7, are solid grass-strip performers, and have a double-width rear door. The fuel burn on these aircraft is less than you would think, and for a lot less than a Turbo Saratoga, you can do a lot more. In reality, the Turbo Saratoga burns 70 litres an hour, but the Seneca burns about 95 litres while cruising at circa 170kts and moving a much greater useful load in a de-iced twin airframe. In Europe, the MTOW is restricted to 4407 lbs to manage Euro Control Charges; in the USA, the factory MTOW is 4750 lbs, allowing the aircraft to carry 1,432 lbs.
G-BOCU started life as a BAE Systems aeroplane up to 2004 (a leading defence contractor in the UK), where it was very well maintained. Then it went to Jerez as a trainer and back to the UK, where it was used for IR training. The LH engine was removed after a con-rod failure. We sourced a core engine, which is included in the sale. The starboard engine starts and runs well, and the aircraft systems all check out on the ground. We advise the new owner to verify this before purchase, and that is why we have not dismantled the aircraft. If engineering assistance is required, we can provide this by separate negotiation to ferry or pack the aircraft for sea freight.
This is a late-model aircraft with a great avionics suite, updated in 2020, and it will really work for someone who wants an aircraft to upgrade at the right price. We ve exported aircraft all over the world and are happy to discuss on Zoom at any time.
