Mk5 alpha 25,000Sadly the time has come to hang up my headset and my Auster Mk5alpha is now up for sale!

AH has been well looked after and is mechanically very good with a total time for airframe and engine of +/- 1132 hrs, with a very major O/H at 1080hrs.

The latest annual was issued in October 2025 following a flight test and approval of all paperwork etc, so I have extensive worksheets for maintenance (inc going back to when I become custodian), together with photographic records of most things that have been done.

Last year (2025), In addition to the normal servicing and maintenance requirements, I removed the belly tank, undercarriage and rear tailplane, stripped paint/cloth and checked, then etch primed, recovered, repainted and reinstalled.

In 2017 AH was transferred to the PFA permit system (from the CofA), and due to my own health issues at the time she had been dormant for some time. In view of that, at c1080hrs a major overhaul was undertaken (beyond normal servicing), which included; the removal of engine top end, Mags overhauled and retimed, main tank removed and overhauled, Carb removed and overhauled, Yoke removed and overhauled with new cables etc etc. Shortly afterwards new tubes and tyres were fitted and a new Trig TY91/92 Panel mounted radio.

A lot of work has been done over the years all records available to interested parties in the course of a potential sale.

She cruises c 100mph and 4.5 g/h, 3/4 seat, stalls around 30mph and can get in and out of 350m upwards

I am asking c 25K but open to offers according to the circumstanaces and timings of a possible sale. She is based at a private airfield in the Clacton Area, so there is an opportunity to keep her there temporarily, and possibly permanently by separate negotiation.
