Description

Wilco Aviation are pleased to exclusively offer this exceptional Cessna 172N Skyhawk, powered by the dependable 160 hp Lycoming O-320 engine. Currently with us at our facility at Henstridge Airfield, this is a particularly clean, honest and well-presented example, ready for its next owner.

Known as Romeo Sierra , the aircraft is both IFR and night capable, making it a highly versatile platform for touring, instrument flying and general recreational use. The avionics have been significantly enhanced by the installation of dual Garmin G5 electronic flight instruments, bringing modern capability to the familiar and proven Skyhawk cockpit.

Presentation is equally impressive. In recent years, the aircraft has benefited from a bare-metal respray, finished in the classic original Cessna colour scheme, together with refurbishment of the interior, including the seat leather and fabric upholstery. The result is an aircraft that retains the character and appearance of the original Skyhawk while benefiting from sympathetic modernisation.

Its ownership history is particularly noteworthy. The aircraft has been owned by its current co-owners for more than 13 years, and prior to that was owned by the father of one of the current co-owners for a further 19 years. This represents over three decades of continuity within the same family and ownership group.

The 172N, introduced for the 1977 model year and marketed as the Skyhawk/100, represented another evolution of Cessna s hugely successful four-seat tourer. Powered by the 160 hp Lycoming O-320-H2AD, the model also introduced a number of refinements, including pre-selectable flap positions and the availability of optional rudder trim.

The Cessna 172 needs little introduction. Developed from the Cessna 170 and entering production in 1956, the 172 went on to become one of the most successful and recognisable aircraft ever produced. Its combination of straightforward handling, excellent visibility, dependable performance and forgiving characteristics has made the Skyhawk a firm favourite with private owners, flying schools and touring pilots around the world for generations.

The N model remained in production until 1980, before being succeeded by the 172P, and today represents an attractive balance between the simplicity of the earlier Skyhawks and the capability expected from a practical four-seat touring aircraft.

With its long-term ownership history, dual Garmin G5 installation, IFR and night capability, smart paintwork and refurbished interior and a recent dual magneto overhaul in 2025, Romeo Sierra stands out as a very appealing example of this legendary type.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a well-equipped, carefully maintained and exceptionally well-presented Cessna 172N Skyhawk a genuine aviation classic with all the ingredients to remain an enjoyable and capable touring aircraft for many years to come.
