CAP 222, Serial #2,represents a substantial development and complete redesign of the Giles 202, undertaken to achieve full EASA and FAA Aerobatic certification under CS-23. Although visually similar to the Giles 202, this aircraft incorporates significant structural enhancements. The Cap 222 was over 95% complete toward full EASA CS-23 certification. Key distinctions between the Cap 222 and the G202 include:
A single, one-piece main wing spar replaces the two detachable wings.
Five attachment points are utilized per aileron, as opposed to the previous three.
The Cockpit and Fuselage have been reinforced from the firewall to the tail.
